    Description
    Wildstrubel by Bike
    Description

The Wildstrubel is one of the mighty mountains of the Bernese Oberland – and can also be done by mountainbike. The route from Lenk is regarded as one of the toughest but also most impressive mountain bike tours in Switzerland.

From Lenk, one initially rolls along the Simme plain and is amazed by the wildlife bustle that forms the dominant end of the valley from here. From this perspective, it seems impossible to do the mountain by bike. At Zelg the ascent begins on a steep gravel road to Rezliberg, from here it is called: Shoulder your bike and hike. 1800 metres in altitude are now to be climbed. You pass the Fluesee with its small hut. Here you have the last chance to fill up with water. Then you climb further up, soon the view of the Plaine Morte glacier opens up, and finally you have to hike up a seemingly endless scree pile. The route is a sporting achievement even without a bike on your shoulders. The summit compensates for the exertion: the high alpine panorama in all directions is stunning, you almost feel like a foreign body on a mountain bike. The descent on the ascent route shows that this is not the case. The trail is perfect for good riding technicians, the gravel gives a good grip and the serpentines are almost all easy to master. You pass the Flueseeli again later, and from here on the trail becomes crisper. The terrain is steep, the trail is partly interspersed with roots and heels, but for good mountain bikers it is almost continuous. If you finally ride back to Lenk in the valley floor and look up again to the Wildstrubel, then you know: Yes, there is a route for mountainbikers up there. And what a route!
