    Description
    Grüensee (Durannapass)
    Description

The Durannapass is one of the great classics among the mountainbike tours in Graubünden, but the original route is a bit outdated. The version over the Tritt is the modern version of the Durannapass tour with a very high proportion of singletrails. «Unnecessary» climbs are mastered with the RhB's mountain railway system.

We start on the Weissfluhjoch, the top station of the Parsenn funicular. Through the large slate rubble fields we descend to the famous Felsenweg, the crossing to the Strelapass. Here the original route would now lead down to Sapün, but on this version of the Duranna tour you stay on the Davos side and follow the trail towards the Chörbschhorn. You leave this at Latschüelfurgga and head down to Tritt. This rock passage is not called that by chance! Now you descend on foot over a steep wooden staircase and on this section you have to carry your bike in your right hand, with the left hand you hold on to the safety rope. The stairs are easy to walk, the whole section is unproblematic. Unless you have a (heavy) e-bike. The Tritt is the reason why this tour is not recommended for e-mountainbikes. The stairs finally turn into a wonderful alpine single trail that leads to Medergen. The Walser settlement lies on our way down to Langwies. Now ahead: The first and only ascent of the day. This leads over 540 meters of altitude difference on a road to Strassberg and then another 200 meters of altitude difference to the Durannapass, but this time on gravel roads and singletrails. Directly at the Durannapass is the lovely Grüensee, an ideal place for a break and starting point for the long descent to Küblis. This leads first over the plateau to Alp Fideriser Duranna and then over many singletrails, occasionally interrupted by short sections on gravel roads, down to Küblis. This descent is ten kilometres long and over 1300 metres deep! In Küblis you get on the Rhaetian Railway and let it take you back to Davos.
