    Teufelsbrücke
    Description

Few people know about the single-track trail descent down to Göschenen from the wind turbine high above Andermatt. Only technically competent bikers can manage it.

From Andermatt follow the Oberalp Pass road to Nätschen. Turn left here onto the mountain road towards Lutersee. This section is marked as an official mountain bike route (Lutersee Bike, Route 411), which you follow to Ober Stafel, slightly above the wind turbine. Here you veer left and bike up to the mountain ridge. The view from up here is fantastic, down to the Urser valley and the Reuss valley and across to the summit of the Central Swiss glacier - even though you will have to devote your concentration to the single-track trail into Göschnen. This is steep, rocky, covered in tree roots and with a seemingly unending number of bends. Skilled bikers can really enjoy it, but less-experienced cyclists are out of their depth. You have to descend no fewer than 1300 metres in altitude on the route. Go through a steep forest to reach the entrance to the Gotthard tunnel, which leads to the centre of the village of Göschenen. The return trip to Andermatt is no less spectacular, even though it is a busy asphalt road. The route through the Schöllenen gorge up to Andermatt is world-famous, and crosses the Teufelsbrücke, or Devil›s Bridge, among other sights.
