    Description
    San Amate
    Description

The San Amate Chapel is situated high above Lake Como near Rezzonico and is the starting point for the long singletrail descent through the eastern flanks of Monte Grona.

From the shores of Lake Como, near San Siro (Santa Maria), climb up a little road to Marena and follow it until it becomes a gravel track at a height of 1150 metres above sea level at a parking space. This track leads up to the Alp Rescascia and ends at the San Amate chapel. It is very steep and rugged in places, and some mountainbikers will be forced to push their bikes. Eventually you come to the chapel on the ridge and also to the downhill trail back to Lake Como. This winds its way round many serpentine bends down to Breglia. The path now changes to become a bridleway. The first one leads over to Carcente, from where you take the next mule track to Pezzo. There are now only a few metres left to the starting point in San Siro.

Tip: The tour is especially beautiful when the visibility is good - the glaciated Valais peaks such as Monte Rosa, Alphubel, Dom, Nadelhorn or Weissmies seem close enough to touch.
