    Description

The Niederhorn lies splendidly above Lake Thun and opposite the mighty mountains of the Bernese Oberland. This backdrop characterises this mountain bike route from Thun to Interlaken as well as the various singletrails that come in every level of difficulty.

From Thun, head up to Schwendi on the mountain road or take the local bus instead. After a few more metres, the first descent begins at Margelsattel. About the mountain, head down to Schwanden and from here through the Staldegrabe directly to the centre of Sigriswil. On the panoramic road, you will now climb up to Schmocken (Beatenberg) and from here on an increasingly steep dirt road up to the summit of the Niederhorn. A mountain railway does go up to the summit, but refused to transport mountain bikers. The upcoming singletrail to Oberburgfeld is very technical and will eventually force you to walk your bike. After Oberburgfeld, it becomes more flowy as the path leads to Rischeretobel and on the other side of the valley down a road to Waldegg. Immediately behind the last houses is the brilliant final singletrail via Ruti to the banks of the Lombach. From here, it’s just a stone’s throw to Interlaken, from where you can take the train back to Thun.
