    Description

The mountain bike tour from Davos via Arosa and the Lenzerheide to Chur is a technically and physically demanding route in alpine terrain. Even if the big climbs are tackled with cable cars, the many smaller climbs and challenging descents require good physical condition.

The tour starts in Davos, where you’ll ascend to the Weissfluhjoch with the funicular. From there, you’ll pass through the Hauptertäli to the Strela. Then an upward singletrail climb to the Latschüelfurgga and then down to the Tritt. A staircase has been installed over this rocky passage, so you’ll have to carry your bike down for a few metres. Soon you can hop back on and ride the tricky singletrail to Medergen. This is followed by a brief ascent on an gravel road to Tieja, where you’ll take the next singletrail down to the artificial lake far below Arosa. You’re only going to make it up to Hörnli with the gondola, but you’re first going to have climb 200 metres uphill on the road to the base station in Arosa. Now you’re going to cross over to Urdenfürggli, first riding a bit downhill only then to have to climb again on the opposite side. You can make this crossing with a gondola in the summer months, but the route via the trail is attractive enough that you won’t want to skip it. From Urdenfürggli, you’ll ride over to Alp Scharmoin and then take the lovely high route to Obersäss. A short descent followed by a climb requiring a massive burst of power will take you to Churer Joch, the start of the first-class final descent to Chur. The trail takes you through some very steep terrain along the mountain ridge on a direct path towards Chur. You’ll pass the Oberhof and Grida housing estates and then from Passugg come upon the attractive final section to the valley floor in Chur, where you’ll just roll on through the city centre and the rail station.
