    Description

The tour over the Chinzig Pass is one of Central Switzerland›s mountain bike classics. The pass connects the Muota valley and the Schächen valley. Provided you have a solid level of fitness, it offers a range of options for bikers of all skill levels, from beginners through to trail aficionados.

From Brunnen train station, follow the first section of the signposted mountain bike route 961 (Schwyzer Tour) via Oberschönenbuch to reach the Suworowbrücke bridge. Change here onto route 801 (Fronalp Tour) towards Muotathal. Leave the signposted route and you will reach the centre of town, then climb up on the mountain track to Liplisbüel in the Hüri valley. After the wide valley floor at the very rear of the Hüri valley, the track becomes steeper, passing the Chinzertal Alp and then continuing up to reach the Chinzig Pass. Thanks to the gravel road you can complete the entire ascent on your bike. The descent leads towards Wiltschi on a steep single-track trail. A gravel path brings you to Fleschsee lake. This is the starting point for several options for the descent, and the most attractive of them is also the most difficult. For this, bike to Chalberweid and take the single-track trails over the meadows to Unteren Hüttenboden. A spectacular serpentine route unfolds before you. The path winds steeply down to a forest track, follow this to your left for approximately 500 meters in altitude until the trail continues. The closer you get towards Flüelen, the snappier the path, and finally the serpentine spectacle makes another appearance. Travel across the steep terrain into the Gruon valley, which leads directly to the first houses in Flüelen. The best way to get back to Brunnen is by train.
