    Description

Indian, Russian and Japanese tourists know only too well just how idyllic the region around Lake Brienz is. The deep blue water against the unique alpine backdrop of the Jungfrau region is also a perfect base for great mountain bike tours.

From Interlaken, follow the shore of Lake Brienz, via Bönigen, towards Iseltwald. Shortly before the village, turn right and climb the mountain road up to Werzisboden. A little way above the pasture you find sensational views of Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, with Interlaken between the two. Continue on the road, eventually passing through a short tunnel, until you reach the Plangäu pastures. Here begins the very challenging descent through the Bauwald to the Biessbach and on by road to the Bramisegg. Then head downhill on the single track via Frutt until you reach the upper end of Lake Brienz. Follow the lake shore to Brienz and then cross to the other, much more picturesque shore for the return to Interlaken. On a mixture of forest roads, single tracks, ascents and descents, you always remain well above the lake until you reach Ringgenberg. The very end of the tour follows the little road via Goldswil to Interlaken station.

Alternatives: Both on the southern and on the northern side of the lake there is the possibility to simplify the route along the lakeshore considerably

Tip: Take the ship in Brienz to go back to InterlakenWer in Brienz keine Kraft mehr hat, fährt mit dem Schiff zurück nach Interlaken
