    Description
    Brienzer Rothorn
    Description

The descent from the Brienzer Rothorn to Brienz is a gem among the singletrails in the Bernese Oberland. The route can be excellently integrated into an enduro tour from Giswil including a post bus shuttle to the Glaubenbielenpass, cable car ride to the Brienzer Rothorn and train ride up to the Brünigpass.

In Giswil, you initially hang your bike on the rear rack of the post bus and let yourself be driven up to the Glaubenbielen pass in this way. The first meters under your own power lead slightly uphill to Jänzimatt, where the first singletrail descent is waiting. This leads in the direction of Sörenberg, at Arnischwand you meet up with the pass road again, to then ride down on the left side of the road to the valley floor. Here you have already reached the second shuttle of the day: the gondola lift up to the Brienzer Rothorn. At the top station you roll through the gallery and head down on trails to the Eiseesattel. The Eiseesattel is the starting point of the long super descent to Brienz. This starts with a wide trail, but then becomes narrower and narrower down to Gibelegg. The path leads past the Irtschelen-Alp always along the Lammbachgraben down towards Schwanden; enormously varied, winding, fun, technical, flowing, rooty, velvety – everything is there. At Oberschwanden you head for the official bike route. Finally, you reach Brienz and let the train take you up to the Brünig Pass. The third stage of the Rothorn tour leads a few meters along the Brünigpass road to turn onto the singletrail along the Balmflue at a parking lot. This fluid trail leads down to Lungern, where you roll along the left bank of Lake Lungern to Kaisertuhl. The last part of the tour down to Giswil leads once again over a singletrail that starts just above Kaiserstuhl. Conclusion: An exceptional tour with many shuttles, great panorama and first-class singletrails.
