    Description

The Brienzer Alpentour is a long mountain bike tour from Interlaken to Brienz, which is only challenging at a few points. It shows the Bernese Oberland from a completely unknown, but extremely attractive perspective.

From Interlaken, you follow the Veloland route along the south bank of Lake Brienz, then turn right in Sengg, and cycle up a mountain road up to the Werzisboden. You will arrive at a tunnel through which you will reach the Alp Planta, and therefore the start of the first descent. Just below the mountain, turn left onto the trail into the forest, which leads to the Staatshütte and a forest trail, then at the end take an singletrack trail to the Giessbach. Follow the road downhill to Bramisegg, then cycle up to Axalp. Next is an singletrack trail to the Hinterburgseeli, then a steep alpine road up to the Hinterburg. The trail downhill is difficult to spot and runs through alpine meadows. The start of the third ascent is reached at Züün. The Wandelalp is reached on a pathway. This meadow region is a nature reserve, with an open forest and small lakes. Mountain bikers must not be leave the trail. The descent is fantastic. The trail winds through this impressive landscape, while opposite the peaks of the Engelhörner reach into the sky. At the upper Stafelalp the singletrack trail comes to an end and the route joins the alpine road down to the Rychenbach. Follow the mountain road out of the valley for a few metres, then turn left in Zwirchi, heading for Falcheren. Take the old access road back to Meiringen via Reichenbach.

Alternativen: The Singletrail from the Seilialp to Biel is not recommended

    Tipps:

    • The route can be shortened by entering the tour later. The Wandelalp is the highlight of the tour and should definitely not be left out.
    • If you arrive by train, you must plan your return journey from Interlaken in the direction of Bern. On this line, many ICE trains run without bike transport.
    • At the culmination point deposit the bike and walk to Gyresprung. There is a phenomenal view of Lake Brienz and the Haslital.
