    Description

The Monte Zerbion and the Becca d’Aver form the entrance gate into the Valtournenche. Both mountains are suitable as a mountain bike destination, the Becca d’Aver convinces by the long and varied singletrail downhill.

From Châtillon there is firstly a long asphalt climb to Torgnon. For this, you first follow the main road in the direction of Valtournenche, but then turn left in Antey and crank up to Torgnon. Follow the street unrestricted until you reach a large parking lot. Up to here you could theoretically also go with a bike shuttle. Now the route turns into a dirt road, which soon becomes very steep and finally leads into a singletrail up to the Col d’Aver. The bike must be carried here, as well as on the last section up to the summit. The view from up here overlooking the Matterhorn and almost the whole Aosta Valley is fantastic. The following descent, first a bit on the ascent route, then on the trail down to the Col des Bornes, is initially very technical, but then becomes more flowy. At least after the Col de Saint-Panthaléon, where a short ascent has to be mastered, the track is fast and flowing. It leads along the ridge to the Saint-Evence chapel. Then you keep right to the village of Pau, from there to Grand Bison and finally ride into the crisp final section through the steep mountain flanks. This path leads directly to the centre of Châtillon.
