IOT Embedded Engineer – e-Bike Systems (w/m/d)

To strengthen our e-Bike Systems engineering team located in Cham, Switzerland, we are seeking an IOT/Embedded Engineer to commence immediately or by agreement. In this role you will be part of our development team, working on complete electronic systems including hardware / software and components to achieve a bike vision in collaboration with designers, product managers and frame engineers.

How you’ll make a difference

1. Take ownership of the bike HMI development, the HMI is the brain of the bike

  • Expand the capability to develop new features in-house
  • Together with product managers, determine which features will make it into the next software release
  • Transition these features into product by working with suppliers (mostly Asia)
  • Collaborate with the quality team to ensure function in the field
  • Assist with root cause analysis on issues that come back from the field
  • Work with customer service to communicate the latest changes and release histories
  • Come up with creative solutions to seamlessly integrate e-bike components into to the bike while not losing focus on user experience and quality
  • Closely collaborate with the connectivity team to ensure perfect communication of mobile app and dealer app with the bike

2. Shape the future of smart and connected bikes

  • Evaluate new technologies for their potential to be used and integrated into our system
  • Work with motor, battery, and other suppliers to continuously innovate new features but also to improve the overall stability of the system

3. Together with mechanical, electrical and quality engineers, develop equipment for automated testing and bring internal testing to the next level

  • Set-up an automation server for testing software features
  • Evaluate testing performed by suppliers and determine additional tests needed on a system level
  • Hardware test set-ups require software features and IOT solutions that allow them to run unsupervised for long periods of time

What you need to win

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related field
  • Experience in product development, e.g. consumer electronics
  • Experience with automotive CAN communication on a hardware and software level
  • Highly experienced with BLE, ANT protocols on a hardware and software level
  • Experience in test automation
  • Experience with all aspects around firmware (bootloader, programming, tools, etc. )
  • Experience in writing and/or analyzing firmware in C++ and assembly
  • Knowledge of Jira/Confluence a benefit
  • Strong technical project management skills
  • Ability to multitask effectively among different projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills as you will collaborate with and coordinate between hardware and quality engineers, software developers, program managers and suppliers across the globe (10-20% national and international travel)
  • Excellent English skills (written and spoken), German skills are a plus
  • A passion for cycling
